Alex Kuznetsov's practice is concerned with states of flux and impermanence, furthered by research into spatial and temporal concerns in comparison to social and urban timeframes. His process-led, abstract painting practice employs a tempered gestural language where fluidity is a defining material and the process of erasure has equal provenance as to the intuitive application of paint.
This examines states of presence and remembrance by exploring a tension between control and chance.
A study of Kuznetsov's painting's influence us to explore the unconscious mind, by creating paintings that reveal a liberating process of discovering new forms in psychoanalytic interpretation and how abstract art can powerfully communicate to a broad range of human emotional experiences.
Discovering tones of pure pigment and their myriad combinations, the artist has formed canvases of pure inner feeling. Achieved with layers of paint with a fluidity that makes his own unique definition of the language of colour.
Steering away from his earlier work, Kuznetsov presses further into the abstract without the need for figurative formation, but instead he penetrates deeper into the dialogue of color and abstract emotions.
Alex Kuznetsov lives and works in Moscow, he is represented in Switzerland by Speerstra Gallery and MSK Eastside Gallery in Russia.
