Anastasia Larionova, b. 1988

Graduated from the Moscow Academic Art Lyceum of the Russian Academy of Arts and VGIK. The reviewer of the defense of the diploma was the director, screenwriter, world known Honored art person – A.N. Sokurov.

After long training, mastering possible techniques and stylistic directions, took carte blanche to create own ideology and pictorial language.

Anastasia currently lives and works in Moscow, continuing to develop her chosen path.

"As an Author I labor to remove reflection from the foundations of creativity. To clear Art from plaque of the subject’s experience and leave only unalloyed beginnings. Essences. Components in the pure state, emotions in the pure state, plasticity in the pure state. Non-objectiveness personifies the pictorial extreme, therefore figurative elements are here to create a harmonious counterbalance.

Authors can be classified into two categories. Who sets tasks for themselves, and who sets super or overarching tasks. My overarching task is to develop a universal expressive language. Economical, intelligible and at the same time unlimited. We have different experiences and subjective tastes. The possibilities of such a language bring a common under these differences."

One canvas takes from several months to years. Wood, linen, gesso and natural pigment [tempera] are used in painting icons according to the rules of the classical canon. Great Renaissance masters created frescoes and canvases, using tempera. This is a technique that requires the knowledge, skill and discipline, and is worthy of writing biblical stories from time immemorial.

The numerous transparent layers combine the icon-painting school and the author's technique. Some works in the series are not coated with protective varnish. According to the principle – the more complex and longer the implementation, the more vulnerable the surface. This philosophy makes a reference to the sacred traditions of the East and the rituals of creating mandalas. The incredibly labor "Model of the Universe" is destroying upon reaching completion, recalling that everything incarnate has its own natural cycle.

Visual language, its symbolism, makes collide the diametrical meanings of the material and abstract.

Despite the value of execution, for the author it remains secondary. The technic is important as an opportunity to transmit a thought, a metaphor, but is not an end in itself. After all, any language can convey the essence.

The creation of an ideology based on the author’s vision is considered important.
